The following points summarise our meeting on Thursday, 18 December, after class outside at Swinburne.
- Group member introduction continued - we got to know each other a little better and what our interests and strengths are. We discussed the importance of using our strengths as leverage in our project decision.
- Charlie showed an interest in Flash development and the hospitality industry, Bernie liked online communities, new innovations and technology and Aleks likes new, exciting concepts such as guerilla advertising, left-of-centre promotion and viral campaigns.
- We agreed that we would use this subject to our advantage and that this project idea should benefit us in more ways than simply completing a subject, especially in terms of future employment possibilities. We thought it could be used for our folios, show industry/company interest or even possibly become the beginning of an entrepreneurial start-up or idea.
- To ensure linking in multimedia, we first discussed what possibilities existed in terms of what we actually wanted to create. We referred to interests and strengths to come up with a few ideas of what we could possibly create: viral video(s), advertisement(s) (print/web), website, online service, iPhone formatted website or application.
- The group also agreed that using existing contacts to help would be beneficial. Aleks suggested an acquaintance of his, Simon Crowe (managing director and founder of 'Grill'd') - a new-age, fresh and funky burger restaurant becoming ever more prominent.
- Conclusively, we still had not settled on any one particular idea, hence we agreed we would think over the following few days and conclude our thoughts at some point online.
- We also showed each other different websites and videos of things we thought were interesting and possibly inspiring and this also contributed to learning about each other.
Hopefully that covers our 'meeting' on Thursday. Add more information in another post if I missed anything.
