I tried to give Simon a call today about our idea... even though he intimidates me a little! Anyway, I kept getting voice-mail, so I simply assume he's extra busy or on holiday. I obtained his e-mail however, and will write a draft after this post and send it to him. I'm guessing he'll reply after Christmas.
However, my agency booked me for another promo on December 28th and apparently he may be there - this could give me a little opportunity to try score some points with him and propose to him our services :)
If he doesn't seem interested, perhaps I'll simply get in contact directly with their marketing department and propose it to them and say I'm 'mates' with Simon!
I'm liking this Grill'd idea more and more because it can span across all our interests and strengths (hospitality, web, technology - possibilities are limitless), give us a good insight into campaign development processes etc. Also, we are the target market, meaning that we can potentially offer something very valuable to Grill'd that is not easily attainable. Also, I know Peter didn't really like us doing freebies for an established company when they should be paying for it, but we could potentially end up getting opportunities such as spending a week in their marketing department seeing what they're up to for experience or whatever, or something else valuable.
So, whether it's Grill'd or not, I think a strongly-linked campaign as a part of a company's IMC strategy incorporating a website, a viral ad and perhaps something else could be the go. What do you guys think?
